BIRD SAFE ARCHITECTURE FUNDRAISER

...  HELP PROMOTE BIRD SAFE ARCHITECTURE!!!

During the 2011 American Institute of Architects National Convention in New Orleans, the American Bird Conservancy, The Zoological Lighting Institute and the RIBA-USA will raise monies to promote bird-safe architecture initiatives. Join us for a elegant evening in New Orleans’ Premier Entertainment Venue, the AUDUBON AQUARIUM OF THE AMERICAS!

As we all know, birds are an integral part of the environment; without birds life ceases. Biodiversity is a crucial component of architectural sustainability in need of attention. Birds disperse seeds, pollinate soils, eliminate pests and fertilize soils. Yet over a billion birds are killed each year in the US due to preventable collisions with buildings. Through your help in raising awareness, we can ‘SAVE A BILLION BIRDS”.

This evening has been made possible by generous support from the Rooflight Company, Arnold Glass and Mechoshade Systems. Join us for an evening of good music, good food and the fantastic surrounds of the Audubon Aquarium of the Americas!

The Zoological Lighting Institute

The Zoological Lighting Institute has a twofold purpose; to promote and sustain research upon the effects of artificial light on animal life and to advocate for best ecological lighting practices in the field.

Bird safe architecture is a key aspect of our mission, as collissions are a challenge caused by changes to natural lighting regimes and a direct threat to biodiversity.
